Day camps in Ochota,
summer 2026

Roller-skating day camps in Park Szczęśliwicki, run by professional roller-skating instructors.

Every day is a solid dose of outdoor activity, building roller-skating skills, and plenty of fun and bonding in a safe, green setting.

For children aged 6–12

If your child is younger than 6 and would like to take part in our day camps — get in touch — in certain cases we make exceptions to this age rule.

What we teach beginners

1. First steps and safety

  • Learning to put on protectors and a helmet correctly (often skipped, but important!).
  • Controlled falling — how to fall onto your protectors so it doesn’t hurt, and how to get up quickly using the “turtle” technique.
  • Stance — knees bent, hands in front.

2. Moving around

  • Walking: first steps on the spot and forwards (V-step) that build stability.
  • Gliding: first long push-offs and rolling on both skates.
  • Slalom: shifting body weight by weaving around colourful cones (this teaches turning more naturally than dry theory).
  • A-turn: the basic turning technique
  • Swizzles: the basis for learning smooth two-sided pushing, edge awareness and leg strength

3. Braking

  • Snowplough — spreading the legs and making a “slice of pizza” with the skates to slow down.
  • Rolling onto grass — how to brake safely on soft ground when you run out of room.

4. Agility

  • Skating on one skate and gradually moving on to the skating stride
  • Rolling down small obstacles
  • Stepping up and jumping down kerbs
  • Games of tag and hockey
  • Skating on varied surfaces

What we teach intermediate skaters

  • Crossovers — learning edge turns, i.e. how to “run” through corners to gain speed.
  • Backward crossovers.
  • Mastering backward skating.
  • Dynamic slalom with active hip and knee work — learning rhythm and precision between the cones.
  • Scissor skating forwards and backwards on the flat and on descents.
  • Skating on two wheels
  • T-stop, power slide, spin stop, soul slide — various speed-control techniques
  • 180° and 360° turns on the flat and off obstacles
  • Learning to descend safely with control of speed and stance.
  • Take-off and safe landing technique for jumps.
  • Roller limbo: getting as low as possible while passing under obstacles.
  • Skating on difficult surfaces
  • Roller hockey and games: putting technique into practice during mini roller hockey.

What a session looks like

What happens at the day camps?

From first steps on skates to trampolines, the pool and the gravity coaster — every day is a fresh portion of outdoor sport and fun.

Roller-skating training

From zero to pro rider!

Our school’s training process is designed to take participants through every stage — from their first contact with the gear all the way to advanced, sport-level skating.

We combine a safe training base on the asphalt yard by the CSN Szczęśliwice building with a natural testing ground — the paths of Park Szczęśliwicki.

Beginner groups

We focus on building fundamentals and confidence. Training starts in small groups, which lets us tailor the pace. We understand the beginning takes time, so the intensity is flexible — everyone has space to rest and recover. As the group progresses we gradually increase the number of participants and the difficulty of the tasks, moving smoothly from the safe yard onto the park paths.

Intermediate groups

A programme based on targeted practice of specific moves — we draw on our experience preparing athletes for inline alpine and skatecross starts. We vary training with elaborate obstacle courses featuring slalom and jump gear, so participants are ready for the challenges of competitive skating.

Our ambition is to offer a complete development path — from recreational skating to top-level competition. Many participants continue training in our year-round section, successfully representing our colours at roller-skating competitions.

Lunches

Home cooking

Lunches are served at the trusted Stara Kuźnia restaurant, right next to our base at CSN Szczęśliwice. Children get wholesome, fresh meals — classics like chicken nuggets, breaded cutlets, potatoes, spaghetti bolognese, salads, vegetables and fries. On parents’ request we can order a meat-free, gluten-free or other version tailored to a child’s dietary needs.

2 h of jumping

A trip to the gravity station

Trampolines, climbing, ropes course

A modern trampoline park designed with children in mind, just a 13-minute walk from the base. Besides every kind of trampoline, there’s an extensive climbing wall with auto-belays and a ropes course suspended from the hall’s roof. There are also interactive team games. There’s one trip per session — and 2 hours of jumping there!

Joy and adrenaline

The gravity coaster

One of those attractions children remember for a long time! Two-person cars allow a shared ride — younger children ride only with an instructor, which ensures maximum safety and comfort. Each child gets 6 rides during the session.

Exercise in the park

Active in the open air

We organise a variety of active games that teach cooperation and healthy competition. Children try their hand at slackline — walking a band stretched between trees — which is great for developing focus and balance. There are also moments to relax with peers; we try to balance downtime with exercise.

Workshops

Kids get to know the gear

Workshops on maintenance and types of skates are an interesting, hands-on part of the session. We discuss different skate types — from recreational, through slalom and aggressive, to fast racing skates. Children also learn how to clean and care for their gear and check the condition of wheels and bearings. All in the form of engaging play, under instructor guidance.

2 trips

Pool trips

A cool-off on hot days

One of the most eagerly awaited camp events! On hot days we take the children to the open-air pool in the heart of Park Szczęśliwicki — with paddling pools and deeper pools, so every child finds something for them. In worse weather we go to the indoor pool on ul. Rokosowska. There are two trips per session.

Staff

Coaches with passion

Our staff are a committed, experienced team of coaches and carers who have worked with children for years. Classes are led by coaches who also train kids competing at national level — they inspire a love of sport so children want to develop on their own.

We don’t work with random people — we value responsibility, punctuality and high qualifications. With us, coach and carer are separate roles filled by different people. We rely on specialised staff.

Registered with the Education Authority

The day camps are registered in the national Recreation Database and therefore with the Education Authority (Kuratorium Oświaty). Both the staff and the facilities meet the Authority’s requirements. With us you are not signing your children up for “summer workshops” offered by some organisers to bypass these requirements.

Base

CSN Szczęśliwice

The camp base — the meeting point and sanitary facilities — is the CSN Szczęśliwice “Górka Szczęśliwicka” building at ul. Drawska 22 in Warsaw. In 2026 the ski lifts are being modernised, but this does not affect the operation of the centre building we use. It’s a modern facility, thoroughly renovated in 2022.

🌳 Park Szczęśliwicki — the perfect place for day camps

Located in the very heart of Ochota, Park Szczęśliwicki is the largest recreational area in this part of Warsaw — green, safe and full of opportunities. It’s home to the famous Górka Szczęśliwicka with its gravity coaster and ski slope, surrounded by paths, playgrounds, lawns, a small lake and a sports zone.

Why do we run our day camps here?

  • Wide paths perfect for roller skating
  • Dedicated zones for exercise and play
  • Close to attractions like the trampoline park and the gravity coaster
  • Child-friendly restaurants and cafés
  • Easy access by public transport and parking on ul. Drawska

It’s a place that combines sport, fun and contact with nature — which is exactly why we develop passions and create memories here.

FAQ

What roller-skating gear should my child bring to the day camp?

We don’t require top-shelf equipment, but for safety and comfortable learning we ask you to prepare gear meeting the standards below:

A full set of protectors: for elbows, knees and wrists. They must have a hard plastic layer and fit well so they effectively cover the areas most prone to injury.

A helmet: solid and well-fitted, ideally a “nutshell” type or a high-quality bike helmet that covers the back of the head.

Skates: classic inline models with the wheels in a line (not quad skates). The bearings must work well — after spinning a wheel by hand it should turn freely for at least a dozen or so seconds. For intermediate skaters, skates with the brake removed or removable.

What does my child need besides roller-skating gear?

a water bottle; a lunchbox with snacks / sandwiches; a backpack that fits the bottle and lunchbox; if the child has their own skating gear — a bag for the skates and protectors (for carrying gear and storing it in our storeroom); for the pool — a towel, flip-flops, swimwear, a swimming cap (the cap is not mandatory at the open-air pool); for the trampoline park — non-slip socks.

Do we have to take the skating gear home overnight?

There’s no need — every participant can leave their skates overnight in our storeroom in the CSN Szczęśliwice building.

What about food during the day?

During an intense day on skates, the right fuel is essential. We provide all participants with wholesome lunches and unlimited access to water (we regularly refill the children’s bottles).

Please make sure each child has a lunchbox with extra snacks and sandwiches. As instructors and sports enthusiasts, we encourage packing healthy food that gives children energy for the whole day — the fewer sweets and the more wholesome food, the better they feel during classes!

Safety on skates

From the CSN Szczęśliwice centre, children walk to the asphalt yard without their skates on. Only once the instructors judge they’re ready / have checked their skills can they skate there along the park paths.

At no point do children skate outside Park Szczęśliwicki, regardless of skill level. They don’t cross pedestrian crossings etc.; we always stay well away from the streets.

Children are strictly forbidden from using the stairs at the CSN Szczęśliwice centre with their skates on (our gear store is on level -1). Once we’ve practised moving on skates on stairs in safe places, they may hone this skill in spots designated by the instructors.

Money and phones

During the camp, while children are in the care of coaches and carers, we’d like them not to use phones. The days are planned so that our charges are always on the move, and we see no need for internet out of boredom. We understand some kids have phones to contact parents; we recommend smartwatches with calling / location features.

Carers always have parents’ phone numbers to hand in our app. A child can use a carer’s phone at any time to contact a parent.

At the CSN Szczęśliwice centre there’s a vending machine that many of our charges sigh over. We allow buying something from it between 17:00 and 17:30, while the children wait for their parents.

What if the weather is bad?

Although the 2025 season spoiled us with perfect weather and not a single rainy day, our years of experience in weather-dependent sports like skiing and kitesurfing have taught us humility towards forecasts. We know conditions can be predicted accurately at most three days ahead, so we don’t rely on long-term forecasts and flexibly adjust each day’s plan to the current situation.

But if the weather makes outdoor skating impossible, we have tried-and-tested alternatives ready: indoor training (the gym of Technikum no. 7 in Ochota), a trip to the indoor pool on ul. Rokosowska, and all-round activities in the CSN Szczęśliwice rooms. Whatever’s happening outside, we guarantee a full day of activity and great fun under our coaches’ care.
